FAQs
What can you mix glow pigment powder with?
Glow pigment can be mixed into clear acrylic mediums, resin, epoxy, glue, and some oils. For best results, use a transparent or lightly colored medium to allow maximum light absorption and glow.
What is glow in the dark pigment made from?
Glow in the dark pigment is made from strontium aluminate, a non-toxic material that absorbs and stores light energy. When the lights go out, it releases the stored energy as a visible glow. Strontium aluminate pigments are much brighter and longer-lasting than older materials like zinc sulfide.
How long does glow in the dark pigment last?
Glow in the dark pigment can glow for up to 8 hours after a full charge. The brightness is strongest at the start and gradually fades. With proper use and care, the pigment itself can last for many years without losing its ability to glow.
How to activate glow in the dark powder?
Glow powder activates when exposed to a strong light source like direct sunlight, a UV flashlight, or a blacklight. For quick activation, use a UV flashlight or place it in direct sunlight — the glow can appear instantly. For a longer-lasting glow, let it charge for 10–30 minutes depending on the brightness of the light. The stronger the light and the longer the exposure, the brighter and longer the glow will last.
How do I mix glow in the dark pigment?
We recommend mixing 20% to 30% glow pigment into your medium (like resin, acrylic base, or clear paint). Using more than 30% usually won’t make the glow much brighter. For most creative projects, a 1:4 ratio (1 part pigment to 4 parts medium) is a good starting point. Mix thoroughly for 2–3 minutes to ensure even distribution and a smooth, glowing finish.
