FAQs
What can glow in the dark pigment be mixed with, and how?
Glow pigment mixes into clear acrylic mediums, resin, epoxy, glue, varnish, nail gel, candle wax and some oils. Use a transparent or lightly coloured medium so light can reach the pigment. A 1:4 ratio (1 part pigment to 4 parts medium) is a good starting point - going above 1:3 causes clumping without making the glow brighter. Stir thoroughly for 2–3 minutes for an even, smooth finish.
Which particle size should I choose - 0-30 µm or 65-95 µm?
It depends on your surface. Painting walls, murals, cement, or concrete? Pick 65–95 µm. Rough surfaces hide the texture, and you get the brightest glow - which helps on big areas seen from far away. Doing resin art or casting? Also 65–95 µm. Using brushes, an airbrush, nail gel, fabric, or doing fine detail? Pick 0–30 µm so it spreads evenly and dries smooth. Not sure? Fine (0–30 µm) is the safe pick - it handles most projects well. Go with Large when you want the strongest glow.
What is glow in the dark pigment made from?
Glow in the dark pigment is made from strontium aluminate, a non-toxic material that absorbs and stores light energy. When the lights go out, it releases the stored energy as a visible glow. Strontium aluminate pigments are much brighter and longer-lasting than older materials like zinc sulfide.
How long does glow in the dark pigment work?
Glow duration depends on the colour. The brightest pigments (green, yellow and cyan) can glow for up to 18 hours after a full charge, medium colours around 10-12 hours, and softer tones around 6-8 hours. All colours recharge instantly and never wear out.For exact performance by colour, refer to the product images or description.
How to activate glow in the dark powder?
Glow powder activates when exposed to a strong light source like direct sunlight, a UV flashlight, or a blacklight. For quick activation, use a UV flashlight or place it in direct sunlight - the glow appears instantly. For a longer-lasting glow, let it charge for 1-2 minutes depending on the brightness of the light. The stronger the light and the longer the exposure, the brighter and longer the glow will last.
