White Base for Brighter Glow Paint – Liquitex Gesso Primer

Painting on a dark or coloured surface?

Start with a white base. Liquitex White Gesso is an acrylic primer you apply before your glow in the dark paint. It creates a white layer that helps your glow look brighter.

Why use it under glow paint?

• Helps glow look brighter: White reflects light back through the glow paint. Dark surfaces absorb more of that light.
• Covers dark colours: Gives your glow paint a white background to shine against.
• Helps paint stick: Adds a light texture for your paint to grip.

How to use

1. Start with a clean, dry surface. Sand hard or shiny surfaces first.
2. Apply 2 thin coats of gesso with a wide, flat brush. Use straight from the bottle. Let each one dry before applying.
3. Let it dry for at least 16 - 24 hours before painting. If the dark colour still shows through, apply another thin coat and let it dry.
4. Apply your glow acrylic paint. Once dry, charge it with sunlight or a UV flashlight.

Do you need it for your project?

It’s especially useful when your surface is dark or coloured. If your surface is already white and suitable for acrylic paint, you may not need another base coat.
