Why use Fabric Medium for glow painting?
Fabric Medium helps acrylic paint grip fabric and remain more flexible after drying. It reduces stiffness, although thick paint layers can still make the fabric feel firm.
How do I mix glow pigment for fabric?
Easiest route: mix your Glow In The Dark Acrylic Paint 1:1 with Fabric Medium. Starting from pigment powder instead, stir about 25% pigment into acrylic paint by volume. You can experiment upwards for a stronger glow, but do not exceed 35% - past that the mix turns clumpy.
Do I need to wash the fabric before painting?
Yes. Prewash without fabric softener to remove residues that can affect adhesion. Let the fabric dry before painting.
How many glow in the dark paint layers should I apply?
Start with 2–3 thin layers, allowing each to dry. Extra layers can strengthen the glow, but heavy coatings make fabric stiff. Test the glow and flexibility before adding more.
Can I wash the finished design?
Test a painted sample first. Wait at least 4 days after the paint has fully dried, then hand wash gently in cool water and hang dry. Check for cracking, peeling or pigment loss before washing the finished item.
