Fluorescent Pigment Powder FAQ
What is a fluorescent neon pigment?
Fluorescent pigments are finely ground, UV-reactive powders that create vivid, neon-like colours. They absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it as visible light, producing a bright fluorescent effect under UV blacklight.
How much fluorescent pigment should I mix into my medium?
We recommend starting with 20-30% fluorescent pigment and 70-80% medium by weight. Mix thoroughly for even colour distribution. The ideal ratio may vary depending on your medium and desired effect, so always test a small batch first.
Do fluorescent pigments glow in the dark?
No. Fluorescent pigments produce vibrant colours under UV blacklight but do not continue glowing once the light is switched off. For a long-lasting glow in complete darkness, explore our strontium aluminate pigments instead.
Are fluorescent pigments safe for skin or cosmetic use?
No. Our fluorescent pigments are not cosmetic grade and must not be applied directly to the skin or used in cosmetics. They are intended for art, crafts and decorative applications. Avoid inhaling pigment dust and direct eye contact.
What UV light do I need for the best fluorescent effect?
Use a UV blacklight to reveal fluorescent colours. Both 365 nm and 395 nm UV lights can work, although the appearance and intensity may vary depending on the pigment and light source.
